Keeping your phone safe

iPhone 13 Security
  • 2 Factor Authentication (“2FA”

All phones issued by AMCL have been enabled with 2FA.

This means that when you want to make changes to the iCloud account on the phone you will be sent a text message with a code to enter to confirm the change.

All phones issued by AMCL have alternative numbers so that if the phone is stolen it is still possible for IT to log into iCloud to change the security settings and find the phone if it is lost or stolen.

  • Find my Phone

All phones issued by AMCL have “Find my Phone” enabled. This means that the phone will broadcast its location and may be located via GPS if it is turned on after it has been lost or stolen.

  • Notifications – Turn Off Message Preview

If you receive a message when your phone is locked the default setting is to show the whole message. This means your message can be read by anyone when the phone is locked. Very unsafe when messages contain security codes.

To turn this off simply go into Settings and select notifications. Select show previews and select “When unlocked”.

The message alert will appear when locked but the text of the message will not.
