Keeping your passwords safe

Password Security
  • Online Passwords

With the present state of the Cyber war, you should anticipated that any online service you use for buying goods or groceries and banking, whether it be Lloyds, Barclays, RBS, Tesco, BA, Microsoft or Amazon, will be compromised and your credentials and payment details stolen.

  • Password Policy

Use passwords that are 8 characters or more and contain numbers, capitals and special characters.

Keep the passwords in a password protected document in Word or password protected Excel spreadsheet. Always have a second copy of the document or spreadsheet.

  • Always setup 2FA if you can.

Most online services have the option to set up 2FA. If it is available set it up but always put in two telephone numbers in case your phone is stolen or lost.

  • Never save passwords on your computer

Simply put never save your passwords on your device or computer
